History

  • The bank was established on 30 April 1993 under the name of Balkanska banka AD Skopje and was one of the first banks to commence operation following the independence of the Republic of Macedonia.
  • In accordance with the registration, the Bank performed all the banking activities characteristic for a single universal banking institution.
  • In July 2003, the Bank underwent an ownership transformation of the share capital.
  • New issue of shares which amounted to 2.0 million Euros in total.
  • The ownership transformation and the new issue of shares made a change to the share capital structure of 78.8%.
  • As of September 2003, there are intensive activities for improvement of the Bank’s activities in all fields and in accordance with the new strategy.
  • The name of the Bank was changed to Universal Investment Bank AD Skopje or UNIBank.
  • In accordance with the Banking Law, the Bank is authorised to perform all banking activities.
  • In August 2007 the Bank harmonised the statute and operation according to the new Banking Law (Official Gazette 67/2007).
